The MDDA was established in 1984 to: - Advance the cause of Islamic values in Medicine in the United Kingdom
- To promote education and research in various aspects of medical science in the context of Islam
- To serve as a forum for Muslim Doctors, Dentists and Pharmacists, to exchange ideas on matters relating to medical practice and ethics.
- Establish contacts with other countries and exchange ideas with medical bodies on matters of mutual interest.
- Promotion of health and well-being of the Muslim community.
In promoting these objectives the Association may: - Establish centres of information and research
- Encourage and provide guidance to undergraduate medical and paramedical students
- Procure to be written, print, publish newsletters, pamphlets, books etc. and convene symposias and seminars.
- Raise funds and regular subscriptions from the members and other sources and invest with the approval of the members.
- Do all such lawful acts as are necessary for the attainment of said lawful objectives.
- Establish links with existing Islamic medical organisations.
- Establish sub-committees
- Arrange social and cultural gatherings.
